**Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Plans Major East Valley Development**
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is exploring a transformative development on 270 acres of tribal-owned land in the East Valley area of the Phoenix metropolitan region. The land, much of which is currently being used for sand and gravel operations, is set to be reimagined as a vibrant mixed-use destination.
As part of the project, 80 acres will be dedicated to constructing a new casino to replace the existing Casino Arizona, which has been operating since 1998 and is located north of McKellips Road.
Plans for the remainder of the site include moderate-density development featuring hospitality venues, street-level retail, office space, and public amenities such as parks and playgrounds.
SRPMIC is actively seeking partnerships with interested developers and investors. While the tribe will retain land ownership, it is prepared to issue 99-year ground leases and is open to joint development agreements. Due to tribal sovereignty, SRPMIC does not require approval from other governmental bodies to proceed with the development plans.
