**Washington Commanders Select HKS as Architect for $3.8B Stadium Project**

The Washington Commanders have announced the selection of HKS, a renowned global architecture and design firm, as the lead architect for their future state-of-the-art stadium.

This major development is part of a transformational $3.8 billion project aimed at revitalizing 180 acres at the historic RFK Stadium site in Washington, D.C. Anchored by a $2.7 billion private investment from the Commanders, the long-term vision is to create a vibrant, year-round destination featuring sports, entertainment, residential housing, parks and recreation, and community-focused amenities.

The centerpiece of this initiative will be a new, roofed stadium with seating for approximately 65,000 people. Designed to host more than 200 events annually, the venue will accommodate global sporting events, concerts, community festivals, and major national celebrations.

Beyond the stadium itself, the wider master plan includes significant ancillary development. This involves the construction of 5,000 to 6,000 new homes—with 1,500 to 1,900 designated as affordable housing—preservation of the Fields at RFK, the addition of youth sports facilities, potential hotel and retail opportunities, and a commitment to allocate at least 30 percent of the site to enhanced green spaces.

The selection of HKS marks a vital step in moving forward with the long-anticipated stadium project, which the team aims to complete within the next five years.
