**Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Wins City Council Approval**

The New York City Council has officially approved the redevelopment of the Kingsbridge Armory and the surrounding Bronx neighborhood, greenlighting a transformative project that will bring 500 units of affordable housing and generate an estimated $2.6 billion in economic activity.

“This is a proud moment for the Council,” said Speaker Adrienne Adams. “The redevelopment of Kingsbridge Armory will ensure this historic site better serves the Bronx community for generations. It will deliver permanently affordable housing, a community facility and cultural space, new office space, and a live event venue able to accommodate up to 17,000 people.”

The Council’s approval unlocks $215 million in public investments previously committed to the project. Additionally, a Community Benefits Agreement, valued at $130 million, has been secured between the selected developer and more than 30 local organizations. As part of this agreement, a first source hiring policy will grant Bronx residents exclusive access to job opportunities for the first 30 days of the hiring period. The agreement includes strong enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance and impact.

Further, the City of New York will contribute an estimated $30 million in additional investments to enhance the surrounding neighborhood.

The revitalization of the Kingsbridge Armory marks a significant step forward in community-driven development and long-term investment in the Bronx.
