**Construction Approved for Two-Building Mixed-Use Development in Allston**
A new mixed-use development is set to rise in Allston, adding to the growing list of projects near the Boston Landing MBTA commuter rail station. Construction is scheduled to begin later this month on the residential portion of a two-building project developed by Marblehead, MA-based Bracken Development and Philadelphia-based Pennrose, according to the Boston Business Journal.
A construction permit has been granted for an 88-unit apartment building at 59 Everett Street. The broader project also includes plans for 385,700 square feet of commercial space at the adjacent 119 Braintree Street site. However, the office building component has yet to secure its construction permit.
The development will be located in a formerly industrial area of Allston that has undergone significant transformation following the opening of the Boston Landing station in 2017. The area is now home to major mixed-use projects such as Allston Yards and Boston Landing, in addition to several standalone apartment buildings, all within close proximity.
