The Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) has announced that KidsQuest Children’s Museum has entered into an agreement to purchase BAM’s former building, located at 1116 108th Ave. NE, for $5 million.

Originally designed by acclaimed architect Steven Holl, the sale of the building will allow BAM to pay off its creditors and establish a new board for the nonprofit organization. Additionally, BAM plans to search for a new location to store its art library.

For KidsQuest, the acquisition represents a significant expansion opportunity. The new location is expected to enhance its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning programs and increase its capacity to serve approximately 350,000 visitors annually. The sale is expected to close in early 2026, with the reimagined space projected to open in 2029.

“The city is excited to see that the proposed purchase by KidsQuest keeps the Bellevue Arts Museum property on a path to continue as a facility benefitting the public in the heart of downtown,” said Bellevue City Manager Diane Carlson.
