**AstraZeneca Announces Largest-Ever Manufacturing Investment in Virginia**

Global pharmaceutical leader AstraZeneca has selected Virginia as the site of its largest single manufacturing investment in company history. The multi-billion-dollar facility is a key part of the company’s broader $50 billion U.S. expansion plan.

“Advanced manufacturing is at the heart of Virginia’s dynamic economy, so I am thrilled that AstraZeneca, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, plans to make their largest global manufacturing investment here in the Commonwealth,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin.

The new facility will leverage state-of-the-art technologies including artificial intelligence, automation, and data analytics. It will focus on the production of treatments for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory conditions, and rare illnesses. AstraZeneca already maintains gene therapy production sites in Maryland and California, along with additional plants in Indiana and Texas.

“I look forward to partnering with Governor Youngkin and his team to work on our largest single manufacturing investment ever,” said Pascal Soriot, Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca. “It reflects the Commonwealth of Virginia’s desire to create highly skilled jobs in science and technology, and will strengthen the country’s domestic supply chain for medicines.”

This investment is expected to significantly boost Virginia’s advanced manufacturing sector, create numerous high-skilled jobs, and reinforce the United States’ pharmaceutical supply infrastructure.
