**Construction Launches on Massive Redevelopment in East New York**

Construction has officially begun on Phase 1A of the Innovative Urban Village, a transformative affordable housing development located in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn. The $270 million project will include 385 affordable housing units and commercial space, including a fresh food grocery store aimed at improving food access in the area.

This phase is part of a larger, comprehensive redevelopment plan for the Christian Cultural Center’s campus. When fully completed, the development will comprise approximately 2,000 affordable apartment units spread across 10 buildings.

“New York remains committed to keeping our state affordable and ensuring everyone has a safe and modern home to call their own,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “This project is helping us fight the housing affordability crisis while also prioritizing improvements that will make the neighborhood more livable for families.”

The redevelopment is a collaborative effort between the Christian Cultural Center, The Gotham Organization, and Monadnock Development. Architectural design is being led by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism in partnership with SLCE Architects. On-site support services will be provided by the Urban Resource Institute, offering assistance to residents as part of the project’s commitment to community enrichment and sustainability.
