James Patchett has been appointed as the new President and CEO of Gilbane Development Company, the real estate development and asset management division of Gilbane, Inc. He will be taking over from Edward Broderick, who was recently named CEO of Gilbane and had previously served as president of Gilbane Development since January 2014.
Prior to joining Gilbane Development, Patchett held a position as partner in the Real Estate practice at McKinsey & Company. He also served as President & CEO at New York City Economic Development Corporation where he oversaw a real estate portfolio spanning over 60 million square feet and managed $10 billion in development projects. During his time there, he played a key role in establishing New York City’s reputation as an innovation hub for industries such as life sciences, fintech, cybersecurity and green energy.
Patchett brings with him extensive experience from previous roles including serving as CEO at A&E Real Estate and Vice President in Goldman Sachs’ Urban Investment Group. Additionally, he has also worked closely with NYC Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development while serving on their staff team.
