Trader Joe’s, a Monrovia-based retailer, is expanding its presence in Southern California with the addition of eight new grocery stores. This represents one-third of the company’s planned expansion nationwide. According to a spokeswoman, there is no set timeline for these openings yet but updates will be posted on their website once available.

Four of the new locations will be in Los Angeles County: South Pasadena, Northridge, Sherman Oaks and Santa Clarita. Orange County and Riverside County will each have one new location in Ladera Ranch and Murrieta respectively. Trader Joe’s also has plans for two more stores in Santee and Poway within San Diego County.

Since its founding in 1967 in Pasadena, Trader Joe’s has grown to operate 549 locations across 42 states plus Washington D.C. In May alone this year they opened up new stores both San Francisco and Boston.
