Urban Retail Properties has recently announced a 15-year lease agreement with Presidente Supermarkets, which will serve as the anchor tenant for the first residential tower in Southland Mall’s transformation into Southplace City Center. The S. Florida Business Journal reports that construction on the eight-story building, located on the former Sears site, will begin this summer.

The new development project, known as Southland City Center and spanning over seven years of planning and construction, is set to include 5,000 apartment units along with over 500,000 square feet of retail space featuring dining and entertainment options within the existing mall.
