EVCS, a leading electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging network operator on the West Coast, and Energy Northwest, a joint operating agency in Washington state, have been awarded $14.6 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program.
This funding will support the development of over 50 chargers at 12 locations along Highway 101 in western Washington and coastal Oregon – covering more than 500 miles. Under contract to Energy Northwest, EVCS will oversee all aspects of planning, designing, constructing, and operating these new charging stations. The goal is to promote local EV adoption and provide convenient charging options for visitors to popular destinations in this region.
According to Gustavo Occhiuzzo , CEO of EVCS,” This initiative further demonstrates our strong commitment towards expanding access to affordable, reliable, and carbon-free EV charging throughout the Pacific Northwest.” He added that “We are thrilled about partnering with Washington and Oregon as they lead the way in transportation electrification efforts while also setting an example for climate leadership – making e-mobility a reality for more drivers.”
